AltaMed Mobilizes to Advance Data Equity for Latino and Indigenous Communities

AltaMed Health Services Corporation
AltaMed is on a mission to eliminate disparities in health care access and outcomes by providing superior quality health and human services through an integrated delivery system for Latino, multi-ethnic and often-overlooked communities in Southern California.
Project overview:
With the passage and signing of California’s SB 1016: Latino and Indigenous Disparities Reduction Act, AltaMed will collaborate with our partners at Latino Coalition for a Healthy California on the necessary advocacy and education efforts for its implementation. This work will include coordinated Days at the Capitol events in Sacramento where AltaMed providers and scholars will be trained to speak with elected officials on the need for disaggregated data, policies to advance data equity and the overall health impact to underserved communities. AltaMed will also continue its research and educational efforts on the topic of data disaggregation across its data operations and the entire 5,300+ staff members. In addition, AltaMed will continue to monitor and advocate at the state and national level to ensure appropriate preparation to ensure a full census count of our communities. This includes closely monitoring the Census Bureau LUCA process to ensure any potential housing issues faced by the type of communities we serve are addressed.
