Coalition on Human Needs Expands Outreach and Tools to Improve Race and Ethnicity Data for Young Children

Coalition on Human Needs
The Coalition on Human Needs (CHN) is an alliance of national organizations working together to promote public policies which address the needs of low-income and other vulnerable people.
Project Overview:
CHN’s work will focus on improving the count of young children in the 2030 Census and other Census Bureau surveys, and improving the availability of disaggregated race and ethnicity data for children and families. The Coalition on Human Needs will continue its efforts to provide timely information to diverse advocates, other stakeholders, and public officials about the need for accurate data disaggregation and the policies to achieve that goal. Its activities will combine public education through blog posts, outreach to communities and targeted organizations through meetings, email listservs, and webinars, regular meetings with Census and other officials, and creation of a new round of state ACS 2024 tables including data on poverty, health insurance, and housing, including breakdowns by race, gender, and age, to make it easier for state and local advocates to access and use disaggregated data.
